AObeats – Peanut Butter w/ Mark Johns + Robokid

aobeats peanut butter

AObeats releases his new single, Peanut Butter, with Mark Johns and Robokid. The co-founder of the Moving Castle independent label is putting out a mixtape next Friday, so stay tuned for THAT. Peanut Butter has an old-school, catchy hip-hop vibe that dives into some R&B. I’m getting a slightly more R&B version of Salt N Pepa. The beat is super bouncy during the verses and smooth during the hook, creating a nice contrast between chunky and smooth…kinda like peanut butter. I’m a smooth peanut butter guy myself; however, this beat is making me feel the chunky.

Andrew Okamura aka AObeats is certainly a forward thinking producer, drawing inspirations from notable beatmakers like Just Blaze and The Neptunes. His styles fall around pop, electronic, club, grime, and more with hip-hop flair. Today, AObeats is earning his masters degree in music at Goldsmiths University of London.

Ethan Budnick aka Robokid is another co-founder of Moving Castle. The three founders are AObeats, Manila Killa, and Robokid. They were producing similar music and Robokid presented the idea to start a label with the three of them because they were all producing similar music and wanted to help similar, young artists.

Mark John is a artist on Skrillex’s OWSLA label. She wrote a song with The Glitch Mob, whic was featured in the NBA Finals back in 2015. She is from Singapore, and was born in Canada to Moroccan parents. A global citizen with some heat vocals!
