Cashmere Cat, Major Lazer, & Tory Lanez – Miss You

What a lineup! Major Lazer, Cashmere Cat, and Tory Lanez team up on their new single, Miss You. The single has a comforting dancehall vibe that teeters towards pop. You can hear Major Lazer’s influence in the percussion groove and spacious bass arrangement. The song screams top 40 radio. Ed Sheeran and Benny Blanco have writing credits, adding to the superstar team of collaborators.

Tory Lanez serenading vocals create a romantic atmosphere around the production, perfect for falling in love on the dance floor. Tory Lanez is a carribian rapper born in Toronto. He was born to a a Barbadian father and Curaçaoan mother. They moved to the United States, to places like Miami, Atlanta, New York, and then again, back to Toronto. While in Atlanta, a friend of Tory Lanez, nicknamed him “Lanez” because of his fast-life tendencies. Tory is an ode to the rapper Notorious B.I.G., whom he idolized.

Cashmere Cat is pops not-so-secret weapon. He’s not so public facing as a known introvert. The Norwegian producer has produced for Kanye, Ariana Grande and Tinashe. His tangible, popping synth work combined with Major Lazer’s swinging elements are a match made in Heaven.
