Claptone! #1 house DJ in my ears AND DJ Mags. Today he releases the second single off his sophomore, Fantast, album, Stay The Night, featuring London duo TENDER. The album is set to drop on the 8th of June, so set your calendars. The album features collaborations with  Kele Okereke, Blaenavon Jones, Zola Blood, Austra, Nathan Nicholson, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Joan As Police Woman and Matt Simons.

Stay The Night has a dispassionate feel, creating an ambiance of tension. Lead singer of TENDER, James Cullen, sings about the volatile emotions in a new relationship. With dizzying, arpeggiated synth and haunting low-octave piano chords, the track creates a unique somber, house environment. From the perspective of someone who goes to a lot of house shows, this represents a monotony in music that I so look to escape in the first place of getting into music. Everything has it’s dark side.

Claptone sent a quote along about the song…

“Stay the Night is a very honest song and TENDER tell a story which deeply resonates with me. The last track I released was the uplifting ‘In The Night’, but I need you to experience the other side of my night, and give you a deeper insight into my heart; the shadows that I cast as well as the shadows that haunt me.”

TENDER says…

‘’Stay The Night is about someone with a fear of being alone that finds themselves constantly driving people away. the push and pull and the struggle for attention they crave leads them to other ways of numbing the pain, only to further drive away the people they love.’’

Claptone’s story remains somewhat of a mystery, clouded by the mythical character he represents at his shows. His goal is to create his story through music, thus his second album, Fantast.

On the album, Claptone says…

“Over the last two years it has been a great pleasure to work on this album as a counterpoint to the hectic world of travelling as a DJ. To lose myself when making music, to dive into and create my very own realm of beauty. I admit it’s a dreamy, a heartfelt, at times a naive and surely escapist album, but what to do if one – on the quest for his soul – develops a strong desire to go back to his roots, back to nature? Did I find myself on that journey? Rather not. But I found some beautiful moments in the green, out in the woods, out in the fields, under the moon and in the night, moments, which I want to share with you. And there is one thing I learned and now it can be told, I am and have always been a ‘Fantast’.”

2018 is set to be another big year for the house veteran.  He looks to take The Masquerade event to new heights; having built momentum for the event all around the world: Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, Melbourne, Barcelona, and New York City. Claptone has been building his personal event over the last 18 months. In 2017, he made 60 festival appearances.  His debut album, Charmer (2015), has around 60 million streams on Spotify.
