DeModa – Downtown Glow (feat. Slow Shudder)

Demoda slow shudder

Ahhhhh, I love this collab between two of my favorite artists right now: DeModa and Slow Shudder (follow them on Spotify so they can get verified!). The gliding synths, touch of melodic bliss through varying percussion and vocal chops, and dynamic percussion elements really give life to Slow Shudder’s smoky vocals.

I really like Slow Shudder’s voice – I feel hypnotized by it at times. She certainly has a unique touch of melancholic energy that does deep. Her voice really makes me feel what she’s singing, which is crucial for a vocalist.  These vocals contrast really well with Demoda’s uplifting production around the voice.  These two are an east coast collaboration that I’m really feeling. Demoda is from New York City and Slow Shudder is from Miami (and recently received her Masters degree in Music from Goldsmiths, University of London)

We’ve posted about these two before. For Demoda, we wrote about his M83 -Go bootleg and FRND remix. For Slow Shudder, we’ve written about three of her original projects: Do As I Say, Alkaline, and Call You Back.

Downtown Glow was recently featured today in Fresh Finds: Hiptronix playlist on Spotify.

Downtown Glow is a piece from DeModa’s forthcoming Lucid Dreams EP, out 12 May via Blind Contour Collective.

I also didn’t get a chance to post about Slow Shudder’s most recent release, Diffuse, on Unspeakable Records. Those beautiful vocals in a truly ambient environment.
