Francis Novotny – The Wire

Francis Novotny the wire

Fancis Novotny releases his new single, The Wire. With lush synths and a wide, melodic ambiance, Francis’ voice lays nicely atop of a bed of tangible sounds. Speaking specifically about his stand-alone voice, its got that soulful, high-register we listen for on our favorite R&B tracks. Those falsettos tho! This adds a nice high end feel to the lower to mid ambiance. This guy is a producer and multi-instrumentalist as well, making him a double threat in the game. The single was release off Black Butter Records, which is home to Gorgon City, J Hus, Rudimental, Tink, GoldLink, Will Heard, Zara Larsson, and many more.

The lyrics and vibe capture the addictive nature of a toxic relationship. Francis says it’s about the feeling…

“when a person leaves you hanging on without answers – and you know you should get out of it – but you keep winding back towards them.”

The young talent originally hails from Gothenburg, Sweden. He was raised by his five siblings in a household with an eclectic record collection. He eventually moved to Paris to study French; however, he used this as an opportunity to pursue his passion in music, away from a crowded household. There, he found his future R&B sound that combines elements of glitch-hop and electro-soul.  His influences combine the textured electronics of Hudson Mohawke or Cashmere Cat and the genre-mutating qualities of Gorillaz.

Since Paris, he’s relocated to London. Listen to The Wire by Francis Novotny below.
