The Funk Hunters – Turn Down The Silence feat DiRTY RADiO

The Funk Hunters turn down the silence

The Funk Hunters released Turn Down The Silence, the first track off their upcoming album. What drew me to this tune was the unique high-end elements moving around each other in contrast with the gritty bass. These elements move to an disco house vibe with pop leanings. Everything about this song is smoooth: the vocals, transitions, storyline, and the overall vibe. I could hear this song at major festivals this summer and on the radio. This song is, thus, perfect for partying, pregaming, chillin on the beach, falling in love in summer, relaxin at home on a Friday night in with your bae and Netflix, eating a whole jar of cookie dough with friends, driving the speed limit aka coastin’, data entry at your current job, procrastinating at the library while really hanging out with friends, and any Instagram video of you wingsuit flying.

The vocals were done by DiRTY RADiO, adding a smooth harmony to the entire track. The Funk Hunters are out to reinvent electronic music, incorporating multiple genres that infuse old-school soul, funk, and hip-hop. Pushing the boundaries of the confines of genre make me excited to hear what they have coming up on their album. They are set to drop the second single off their album on March 23, including their entire tracklist.

The Funk Hunters are made up of Nick Middleton and Duncan Smith. They met while at film school in Canada. Since then, they’ve amassed over 10 million streams off their originals, remixes, and collabs. They have done official remixes for the likes of  Imagine Dragons, Selena Gomez, Big Gigantic, and Gramatik.

The two have a nice chemistry. Nick handles the studio and production efforts while Duncan works on their live show. They’ve played at major festivals such as Coachella, Lightning in a Bottle, Electric Forest, Burning Man and more. I’m pumped to see what the Funk Hunters have in store for 2018.
