GEO – Mágica (feat. Caro Pierotto)
GEO is a truck driver from Boston who makes dope beats with jazz influences. I first started paying attention to the artists after he released, Better, featuring Gabriela Francesca and Rex Mac. Yesterday, he released Mágica, which is a celebration of his love for Latin music.
Mágica features Portuguese singer, Caro Pierott. The dynamic looped bossa, samba, salsa infused beat brings out a sunny side to the track. What I love about GEO is his melody play with different instruments. In Mágica, you have a Spanish style guitar, flute, piano, and orchestral strings. There is so much positivity and warmth on this one.
The addition of Caro Pierott’s Portuguese verse that has a background feel, this song really melds well. The vocals are a bit behind the mix during the chorus, making it sound like all the instruments are working in unison rather than having one specific lead element (typically the vocals in most pop songs).
GEO sent a quote along about the track…
“Mágica” is a celebration of my love for latin music. Growing up, I wasn’t really surrounded by a whole lot of “world” music until I started listening to and playing a lot of jazz and was immediately hooked on bossa, samba, and salsa. It was only until recently that I started diving more into it and exploring why it felt so good. After an açaí bowl on a weekday, I sat down and wrote this one in an attempt to pay tribute to my love for the way latin makes me feel. To help pay homage to my roots, Caro Pierotto graced this song with a beautiful Portuguese verse about finding magic in a new love. “Mágica” is about the inexplicable enchantment in the way something feels, whether that be a genre of music or someone new.”
