Iris Gold brings us her new single, All I Really Know, a blend of soul, hip-hop, and power pop that she calls “hippie hop.” Her soulful vocals playing along with the retro garage hip-hop beat immediately caught my ears attention. The song has become her pump up song, and I can hear why. She sent a quote along along about the track…
“When you have been dealing with adversity throughout your life, it will either kill you, or make you blossom into a positive person, and I decided very early on in life that I would always be positive, energetic, and a go-getter. “All I Really Know” is my Rocky Balboa/Apollo Creed track. It’s a song about picking yourself up, dusting yourself off and trying again, after failing, no matter how many attempts it takes.”
Iris Gold is London-born and Copenhagen-raised. She’s lived somewhat of a nomadic lifestyle, surrounded by free thinkers and hippy communes culminating in a modern day 60’s 70’s counterculture. Growing up, she was enamored by the West Coast melodies of Pete Rock, Beastie Boys and De La Soul. With her newest single, I can hear those influences done in a modern take. The nostalgia factor with modern elements that I speak about is abundant in this song.
Irish Gold has shared the stage with Blur, Taylor Swift, Miguel, Robbie Williams, Phlake and Raury. She’s worked with a variety of producers with credits I’m sure you’d be impressed with. Her sound is fresh, authentic, with the old-school vibes you grew to love.
