José Lucas – If It Weren’t For Love
There is something about whistling hooks that bring me back to being abroad in Europe. Maybe it was a song in FIFA, that made this song so appealing in my head. Whatever it is, that high end whistling sound is infectious when done right.
José Lucas is guitar-based deep house artist, or, more commonly referred, a musician/producer. He is from one of the holy lands of amazing producers, Stockholm, Sweden.
in 2007, José graduated from The Royal College of Music in Stockholm with a masters degree in classical guitar. In 2008, the artists attended the Songwriters Academy in Sweden to study songwriting and production.
Since then he has been working with Grammy Award winning Lukas Nathanson (Chris Brown, The Saturdays, Abraham Mateo), J.R. Rotem (Britney Spears), Taped (Steve Angello, David Guetta), Charlie Mason (Miley Cyrus, Conchita Wurst) and DMZ Music (Bruno Mars, Pitbull, Snoop Dog).
Besides songwriting/production, José Lucas is teaching guitar and founded Stockholm Guitar Duo, who mainly plays Spanish guitar music. “If It Weren’t For Love” and its just the beginning of what José Lucas can do.
That whistle sound immediately hooked me. Then, the vocals came in, and I found more harmony. This is José Lucas first single under his name. The whistle is a charming sound, giving us a sense of relaxation and carelessness (in a good way). Below are two of my personal favorite songs with whistles! Young Folks by Peter Bjorn & John was popularized in FIFA 2008 and Bob Sinclar’s Love Generation!
