Imagine a world where instead of asking John Mayer to front The Dead & Co. Bob Weir turned to Ty Segall. That’s the world Boston based synth-garage rock/pop outfit Julep inhabits.

They’ve got sugary-sweet pop hooks written by mononymous frontman TJ fuzzy rock ‘n roll guitars provided by guitarist Sarah Greenwell of Gymshorts fame, a jam band mentality when it comes to the synth played by Kevin McCallum, and a killer rhythm section in the form of bassist Andrew Gibson and drummer Nick Makarovskiy.

The band is still working on their debut record due out this spring, but they have already released a couple of singles on their Bandcamp called Strange and Goodbye Garden. The rest of the band’s tunes don’t even have names yet but that didn’t stop Julep from taking a 20-day 17-date, well-received jaunt across the country in October.
