Lolo Zouaï – Blue (Prod. by Stelios)
Lolo Zouaï released her newest single, Blue, today. The future R&B track was produced by Stelios from the United Kingdom. There’s an upcoming genre that a lot of A&Rs are paying attention to. It’s a fusion between R&B and electronic music. I call it future R&B, and it typically uses electronic elements in the production with a vocal arrangement that is reminiscent of R&B back in the 90s.
Lolo Zouaï is a New York City-based, Paris-born singer/songwriter. She’s racked up writing credits for the popular NYC artist, H.E.R. Her last single, High Highs to Low Lows has close to 2.3 streams on Spotify. I’m assuming she was running on one of her “high highs” after that since her next most popular single has 4.5k streams. That single was also produced by Stelios, proving they’re a good team.
Blue has a super authentic feel, illustrating a melancholic vibe. The atmosphere of the song even sounds blue. With a dynamic, trap percussion arrangement; Lolo’s smoky, soulful vocals; and saddened synth undertones, this song is simple at it’s core. It’s minimal vibe adds to it’s authenticity, making the listener feel like Lolo is in the room with you, a percussionist, and a synth person. Beautiful track!
