Lui Peng – Demons EP

Lui Peng Demons

Lui Peng is a British-Chinese singer and songwriter whose impressed me with his recent EP, Demons. The vocal arrangement and “dance” between the instrumentation and voice caught my attention almost immediately. Lui Peng uses this EP to tell his own story about a side of him that he doesn’t publicly promote; in fact, there are many in this world with this similar problem. The first song of the EP is entitled, Demons, which is a song about forgiveness and redemption, but ultimately the influence that our demons can have over us. It’s important to be aware of this to truly conquer your demons.

This song was released back in April of 2016 and received over 300,000 plays on both Soundcloud and Youtube. This gave Lui Peng the encouragement to continue with the EP.

Demons Chapter 2 is a more modern and futuristic version of the original release. The producer on the track was SJ Reid.

My personal favorite track on the EP is What To Say. Since this release, the singer had 4 releases to his name, totaling close to 1 million streams. With vocal chops, a modern R&B/electronic instrument arrangement, and Lui Peng’s authentic style vocals, the entire EP has a remarkably organic, simplistic, and melodic touch that I peg to Lui Peng. The sound production and vocal style makes it seem like he’s in the room with me. The vocals are not overly processed and the syntax is on POINT! All songs on the EP are catchy. Take a listen through on a long car-ride or while doing something repetitive and mundane at work to give ya a bit of LIFE.
