M3GA – Same

M3GN same

There’s not much about M3GA online; however, I’m loving her first official release. The song is called Same. I love the cadence of her lyrics. The song is minimal in its arrangement, and sometimes less is more. It’s a break-up song, poetically describing the pain of ending a relationship. The looped, high-octave synths contrast nicely with M3GA’s melancholic, lower-octave tone.

Another aspect I find interesting about her cadence is that although she discusses the pain of breaking up, her tone teeters towards apathy. Her tone sounds more depressed than sad in the romantic sense. This makes the song more authentic to me: a natural sadness. Authenticity and simplicity are vital aspects to master as an artist. I was impressed with M3GA on both.

The instrumentation behind the vocals builds slowly over time, drawing out the pain of breaking up.

M3GA is a singer/songwriter from Toronto, Canada. I want want a chillstep or more synth heavy remix to this because it’s minimal, so there’s room for more, and I love the lyrics 🙂
