Magick City Hosts Hipstery for a Soulful Intimate Vibe #LocalStuff

My favorite spot in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA, North America, Planet Earth right now is Magick City.  The place has been like a second living room for me. If you like music, and you’re around the area, you should definitely check it out. They have a dope sound system and bring in some great music acts. It’s also a very intimate setting, so you’re not too overwhelmed by those big New York crowds you might hear horror stories of in Manhattan. I lived in the East Village for 4 years, so I GET IT. I’m more comfortable out here in spacious Greenpoing 😉

Last night at Magick City, I had the pleasure of witnessing the music collective from Boston, Hipstory. They brought 5 artists from the collective: CliffNotez, Oompa, Forté A.K.A. Pops, Tim Hall, and Hamstank. Tim Hall and Hamstank spent most of the time on the horns/keys, while Forté, CliffNotez, and Oompa each performed tracks from their most recent releases. Tim Hall performed a beautiful song that I’d call poetry as well.

The vibe was intimate, and their performance fit the room perfectly. Each were lyricists in their own right, dealing with themes such as loss, desire, racism, depression, apathy, turn up, and powerful women. Their rhythms were strong and their words were stronger. You could tell the time and effort put forth in the poetry of each artists lyrics. It was truly beautiful to listen to. They are performing tonight at Rockwook Music Hall at 10pm in the Lower East Side. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend checking them out. CiffNotez recently dropped his new album, Cliff Notez. Below is one of my favorite songs of the night. Check the video below the Soundcloud embed below to check the vibe.

Oopma’s flow was ridiculous. Below is a taste of where her vibe can go, even tho this was not the vibe of last night.

Below was one of my favorite song performed by Forté. This was his first single off the Hipstory collective.
