Matt and Kim – Forever

Matt Kim forever

Beside’s immediate family there may not have been a single person on Earth more concerned for the safety of Matt and Kim drummer Kim Schifino than I when news broke last March of her tour-ending knee injury. But the beating heart of Brooklyn’s indie pop darlings is finally back behind the drum kit in a big way with the release of Forever a collaboration with Mark Hoppus of Blink 182, SWMRS, as well as producer Flosstradamus.

Forever was written while the phenomenally charismatic Kim was still on the mend from her injury and ensuing surgery, and it pretty strongly highlights how she was feeling spending so much time outside of the studio and away from the group’s adoring fans known affectionately as “The Scream Team.” The injury hiatus is the longest amount of time Matt and Kim have ever spent not touring since embarking on their musical voyage back in 2004.

This is the thunder pop-dance punk’s first new tune since 2016’s Coachella companion EP We Were The Weirdos and it comes along with a promise from the Fader Label of the group’s first full-length album since 2015’s New Glow due out this spring. The song also comes complete with a music video where Kim shows that despite her injury she still has command of all of her signature dance moves.

The impossibly upbeat twosome has also announced a 33-date national tour that will also dip into Mexico for a few dates. Click here for full details.
