Melis – Flower

Melis Flower

Melis is a half Czech and half Turkish human with a beautiful voice. Her vocal style contains influences of early folk, contemporary, electronic, and pop. You can tell her arrangements are formed thoughtfully and melodramatically. There is such a purity in her voice – props to whoever recorded her! You can hear her lips popping. It’s THAT clear.

After reaching the top of Hype Machine, New Music Friday in the UK and Italy on Spotify, and Apple’s best of the Week playlist with her rescued record, Love Song IdeaMelis is back with another enchanting vocal arrangement, Flower. This is her first single from her upcoming debut EP, Parallels. The song is dedicated to her father.

A clean guitar, subtle rising synths, and a minimal percussion effort is everything that Melis needs. Her voice cuts through deep enough, and less is certainly from the aspiring vocalist.

We always love when the artist brings along an explanation behind the music. Melis explains: “Flower is the track from the EP that really holds a special place for me. I wrote it during 2016 which seemed to be a bit of a rough patch for me. The sentiment of the song is that going through sadness and being in a dark place isn’t forever. There is hope and better things, if only one doesn’t give up. This song is the encouragement for that. I recorded the idea, like Love Song Idea, on my iPhone. I began to record parts of it in my apartment and in a small Berlin studio space I rent”

Melis plans to release the EP with a special run of very limited (200) 10” Grey Vinyl, hand-numbered and personally noted, which you can pre-order here via Qrates.
