Moglebaum – Phone

Majestic Casual Records are doing some interesting things. One of their acts, Moglii, leads a 5-piece electronic band called Moglebaum. They recently released their new single, Phone, the third single off their forthcoming Grown Heart EP.  The song has a rich texture, dreamy vocals, and downtempo trap vibe that I’d go as far as calling jazz trap. Moglebaum is known for their dynamic percussion arrangements, all done live. The emphasis of the group is vital for Moglebaum’s brand, containing anticipation elements that could only be done by a live electronic group. That electronic feel filled with a live band orchestration is a popular style these days, and these classically trained musicians are ahead of the curb.

The 5 piece band is from Germany. The band started with Simon22-year-old producer and jazzpianist, Simon Ebener-Holscher aka Moglii. Vocals are normally done by Franziska Geiß, vocal samples and synth work by Alessandro Fáma & Simon Ebener-Holscher, Jonas Geyersberger on the sax, and Michael Kemkes with the percussion elements. The rich texture you normally hear from Moglebaum are typically self-made field recordings of coffee machines, shopping bags or cactuses.
