The Stakes Prophecy

Live-band hip-hop outfit The Stakes took their band name from the fourth record released by seminal hip-hop outfit De La Soul which was entitled The Stakes is High and the stakes have never been higher than they are with the group’s newest video. The Matty Steinkamp directed telenovela tackles some of the group’s most serious subject matter to date and takes a hard look at inner-city suicide.

Prophecy is their group’s May 2017 album’s namesake and is the second single off their most recent album coming out following the track 5 Minutes of Gold. The Stakes dual frontmen ZeeDubb and Lord Kash have never ever been afraid to be socially conscious in their lyrics and imagery and they certainly weren’t here telling a realistic tale of isolation and abuse set to the backdrop of a harshly lit cityscape.
