Oliver Nelson & Tobtok ft. River – 99 Red Balloons

I went through a punk rock phase when I was younger. 99 Red Balloons by Goldfinger was one of my favorite songs. That song was based off the original German song, 99 Luftballons by Nena. I fell in love with the song after watching EuroTrip, which became one of my favorite movies at the time. In fact, it’s the 35th anniversary of Nena’s 99 Luftballons. To celebrate, Oliver Nelson and Tobtok add their melodic house spin to the classic hit.

One of my favorite parts of their rendition is they kept the infectious melody that made me fall in love with the original in the first place. It also keeps that 80s nostalgia groove. The vocalist on the track is River, a singer/songwriter from the UK.

Oliver Nelson is a Swedish producer/DJ whose a veteran of the #1 spot on Hypem. He’s a resident DJ for Kistuné in Europe, a notable French tastemaker in music. He’s toured around the would, collaborated with Kygo, done a remix for Kesha, and has well over 60 million streams on Spotify.

We recently celebrated Tobtok’s new single, On My Way, which is STILL #1 on Submithub’s popular charts. The Swedish producer and DJ is also affiliated with the sexy Kistuné brand. His single, Fast Car, has reached close to 30 million streams on Spotify.
