SABROI – Naked Mole Rat Genome

Sabroi naked mole rat genome

My boy, Shreyansh, coming in with the goods!!! What you are about to hear below if not for the faint-hearted. This is specifically for individuals who might consider themselves audiophile in the electronic space. I try to post an eclectic mix of new music that I like, and I like a lot of different styles of music. Some of which is out of this world. The EP below is a cinematic narrative with outstanding sound design good enough for any James Cameron flick. Music is storytelling, and I haven’t heard this story before.

SABROI recently dropped his EP, Naked Mole Rat Genome off Culprate’s forward thinking label, Open Outlets. The sheer fluidity in his sound design comprised of a liquid feel and hard-hitting sub-bass manipulation. The EP takes influences from Noisia, Moody Good, Aphex Twin and MANY more, while still sticking with SABROI’s original feel.

The contrast between light and dark are fascinating in this project. The light resonates with a Rezz-like atmosphere of confusion and mystery. The dark comes in hard, with monstrous sounds one can only fathom in nightmares. The final song, Hive Mind, has the most “normailzed” song-structure, with a trapstep vibe that ends with a beautiful piano sonata tailing off into the mysterious unknown.

SABROI is a producer living in Uppsala, Sweden. Sabroi also won the X&G remix contest, so you know he’s legit.
