Shan Vincent de Paul – Bitch Go

Shan Vincent de Paul

Shan Vincent de Paul is a Sri Lankan born Toronto based rapper and artist who blew me away with the submission of his first single, Bitch Go, off his sophomore album, Trigger Happy Heartbreak. His album was released on Friday. I’ve posted the entire album below for your listening pleasure.

The creativity on this single is unreal. From the color scheme, to the dance choreography, to the catchiness of the single. The beat is quite simple; however, Shan Vincent’s sincere and direct vocals had me super hyped up. I was also taken aback by his flow on the verses, melding quickly with the beat with a tight rhyme scheme. I love sending this song to people I disagree with as a comical overreaction, when I’m really just trying to promote the good taste in music I think I have while having the final word at the same time 😉

Shan Vincent de Paul has an interesting back story. He was born in Sri Lanka and was forced to flee the country with his family due to their quarter of a century civil war. They arrived in Canada as refugees. Thus, his music can be fairly politically active, making listeners ask difficult questions about pop culture, fame, humanity, and identity. Bitch Go is a statement towards making all the negativity in his life leave.

Bitch Go was produced by La+ch, combining his catchy bass line with SVDP’s infectious flow. I love everything about this song. One of my favorite rap/hip-hop submissions I’ve ever received off Submithub.
