Sharky – Hawaii

Sharky releases Hawaii off French tastemaker, La Belle Musique. Letting Soundcloud roll today, and it’s not disappointing. This track took me to another place. The drop in at 1:12 reminded me of C2C’s Down The Road with that piano to violin on the 8th note. Sharky’s voice has such a presence and the instrumentation behind creates a melodic jazz/funk/soul ambiance. Her cadence is unique at each interval. Props to her songwriting ability and versatility. She sings pop, indie, soul, jazz, arrangements in that order then kind-of goes into hip-hop a bit towards the end. A chameleon of sound. I’m picturing the producer cleverly throwing in different genres that work only to challenge the singer’s versatility in style.

The song falls under alternative pop. There’s not much about Sharky online; however, La Belle Musique is starting to distribute name out there, as the new artist already has 41k plays on Spotify in two weeks.
