SKY KELLER – Dont Get It

Sky Keller is a Connecticut-born, LA-based singer with a fire new pop single called Don’t Get It. The vocals are smokey, emotional, and tonally on-point with some of the biggest pop names. The introspective, vocal driven track has a unique anticipation build from the vocal distortion. The FX on these vocals reminded me of something Kanye would do. It’s an out-of-the-box strategy to build tension on the track. The whale-synth noises reminded me of something Branchez would do, specifically thinking about the remix he did for What So Not’s High You Are.

The lyrics speak towards a victim role. The role of living in uncertainty with not control over what happens next. She’s speaking about a relationship in this single. The juxtaposition between the verse and the chorus is that of emotion and the carelessness to dance the night away. Sometimes music can be a good distraction from what hurts us the most.

The single was produced by Danny Garibay (Justin Tranter, The Ceremonies) and co-written by Alma Goodman. The single is perfect for those indie-pop fans inspired by sultry vocals and easy going melodies.
