The Swoons – Balance

the swoons balance

The Swoons released another single, Balance! A quick turnaround from their previous release, Lost, just about a month ago. It’s a unique indie rock style, combining dark piano riffs, an underlying 808, creamy vocals, and a dreamscape of arpeggiated high-octave bass hit. The chorus on the track combines elements of electro-pop and future bass, concluding the stark contrast between the melancholic verses and high-energy hook.

The Swoons are a trio from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Their birth names are Matt Underwood, Tony Ann and Giacomo Timbrello. They are from London, Toronto, and LA respectively. Tony played the keys on the Chainsmokers’ Memories: Do Not Open Tour last year. He also co-wrote their latest single, Sick Boy.

The single was featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday in France and Canada.

The band sent a quote along with the single…

“Keeping balance is always a constant struggle whether its personal life, relationships or your job. We’d experienced relationships where it always felt like we were on the edge and no matter what we said we were always one step away from letting go or being let go. However, as we all know letting go of something special to you is much easier said than done. Set over a rhythmic 808 pattern and syncopated piano riff we wanted to recreate that emotion musically over a dreamy future pop setting.”

The band is currently working on their debut EP, set to drop this spring.
