Years and Years – Sanctify

years and years sanctify

rBeatzRadio presents Sanctify by Years and Years. This is the first release from the British synth-pop band in about 6 months. There are elements of 90s pop that remind me of Usher’s music mixed with some NSYNC. The band’s debut album, Communion, debuted at #1 on the British album charts back in 2015.

There are currently three members of the group: Olly Alexander (vocals, keyboards, synth), Mikey Goldsworthy (synth, keys, bass), and Emre Türkmen (synth, keys, beats, samples, sampling, sequencers, laptop, guitar). They tour with a 4th live member, Dylan Bell, who plays the drums.

The band has collaborated with Tove Lo and MØ supported their biggest headlining show to date in April of 2016, at Wembley Arena in London.

Sanctify is the first album-titled single from their upcoming  album. Within it’s first hour of release, the music video hit #1 trending on YouTube.  Olly mentioned that the inspiration for the song came from experiences he’s had with men who struggle to embrace their sexual desires for other men. Olly Alexander has become a spokesperson in the music industry for the LGBT community.
