Tiësto brings his entire bag of tricks to this one, blending soaring synths with nostalgic melodies and modern production techniques. “Bring Me To Life” is obviously inspired by the producer’s massive main stage presence, but in many ways, it’s also a return to his trance roots. His early period is renowned for delivering trance magic, and the contemporary dance floor can’t get enough of this sound. Vocals on this number come from FORS, who comes in and out to help build euphoria.

Cheryl “Salt” James comes from the iconic act Salt-N-Pepa. Despite decades of group experience, she’s also a solo rap star with her own story to tell. James has a strong flow centered around cultural pride and Black culture in modern-day America. On her latest track, “Kings & Queens,” she presents a nostalgic, classic hip-hop sound while still pushing forward. The overall theme of “Kings & Queens” is one of survival, and as you’d expect from such a superstar, it’s delivered with a calm sense of authority. The music video for this song was filmed at The Hip Hop Museum in the Bronx.
DaBaby (feat. BigXthaPlug and That Mexican OT ) - Let Me Slide
“Let Me Slide” is a collaborative track by DaBaby, who works alongside BigXthaPlug and That Mexican OT on a high-energy trap jam. This is Southern Black music delivered with bravado and style, and it’s quickly becoming a staple for fans of Texas rap. As a contemporary trap number with flex and flow, this track places rapid-fire lyrics over heavy beats and sub bass. DaBaby’s production provides a great frame for the guest artists, with the hard-hitting verses blending nicely with the crisp percussion and gritty samples.

This production creates the perfect background for the vocal delivery, which is by the wonderful Parimal Shais. “New Riot” is a punchy track in every way, and it’s been described by the artists as a “manifesto of chaos.” It’s based on the harsh reality of an emotional breakdown, but through sounds and lyrics, it’s transformed into a display of strength and confidence. Reble’s versatility as a producer is definitely on show here, but Parimal Shais almost steals the show with her performance and presence.

Popular music often throws up surprising collaborations, including this partnership between genre-mashing YUNGBLUD and indie rock darlings The Smashing Pumpkins. This track is a creative reworking, and it adds new heaviness to the original goth-rock aesthetics. With Billy Corgan’s new vocals and added guitar layers, feelings of trauma and isolation from the original retain their power. The track was produced by Billy Corgan and Matt Schwartz, with the Pumpkins’ drummer Jimmy Chamberlin also participating in the session.
