Emerging from the tight-knit Charlotte scene, Todd Johnson & The Revolvers deliver old-school Americana with real talent and raw emotion. “She Ain’t Got No Quit” is a great choice for long drives in the countryside or fireside chats with someone you love.
George Banda — Fade
“Fade” is a new country single released earlier in 2025 by George Banda. Hailing from Hayden, Arizona, this talented singer-songwriter got real busy for this production. Not only did he write and record this number, but he also mixed and mastered the track himself. This song features raw guitar sounds and intimate vocals, including great lines like “Fade into the night; do not fear, do not fight.”
Nebulith — Startrippin
“Startrippin” is a new metal song by Nebulith, a creative solo project by Charlotte’s John Shaughnessy. This track is full of stoner rock, doom metal, and psychedelic sounds, which blend together in a heavy melting pot. “Startrippin” was originally released on the 2024 album Feel Good Music For The End Of The World Vol. 1. It was produced by the artist himself, who also works as a professional bassist across North Carolina.
Deep Shallow Band — Waiting on the Nighttime
Direct from Boone in North Carolina, Deep Shallow Band offers an authentic take on Southern soul. Their sound has been likened to the Allman Brothers Band, and it’s also reminiscent of The Black Crowes. The smooth single “Waiting on the Nighttime” is one of their latest productions, surfacing in 2024 to great acclaim. The official video for this track provides great insight into the band, including live footage from Stooges in Mint Hill, NC.
Funkwando — Forever on the Run
The fabulous Funkwando is a live music favorite from the mean streets of Charlotte. As you might expect given their name, this band delivers righteous funk music with attitude and purpose. “Forever on the Run” showcases their typical bass-heavy sound, with drum grooves and low notes forming the perfect musical bed for guitars, horns, and vocals.
Krystilization — Willow Oak Cathedral
On this electronic jam, Krystilization merges acid lines with atmospheric pads and drum machine beats. “Willow Oak Cathedral” is anything but formulaic, however, with the foundational elements of electronica brought together in new and surprising ways. This track was released in June for the Dust of the Self album, with Krystle Baller on writing and production duties at Pachyderm Music Lab.

st.sinner is a unique pop-metal band from Canberra, Australia. The track “alive” is a great representation of their sound, taking inspiration from heavy acts like Bring Me The Horizon and Void of Vision. This song features all the typical metal-core elements, with heavy guitar riffs and blast beats sitting beneath poignant lyrics and high-energy vocals.
Shepherds Reign — Samoa Mo Samoa
Shepherds Reign comes from the tough neighborhood of South Auckland, New Zealand. On their latest track, “Samoa Mo Samoa,” this exciting tribal metal outfit sings with gusto in their native tongue. This track is full of energy and “mana,” the spiritual life force that’s so important to Melanesian and Polynesian cultures. This tale of death and victory is produced by the band’s guitarist, Oliver Leupolu.
Tash Sultana and City and Colour — Ain't It Kinda Funny
“Ain’t it Kinda Funny” is an unlikely collaboration between Australia’s Tash Sultana and Canada’s City and Colour. This is a heartfelt song with a real sense of spirit, and both vocalists merge their energy to great effect. “Ain’t it Kinda Funny” is about loneliness and longing, and it showcases the incredible musical talents of both artists.
SOPHIA — UH-HUH
“UH-HUH” is the fourth track from SOPHIA’s Wandering extended player, a great evolution of their previous EP Healing. SOPHIA switches things up for this one, with groovy bass and drums adding funk beneath understated acoustic vibes. This track features tight production and a catchy refrain, and it’s already a huge favorite at the band’s live shows.
Sons of Legion — Walking on the Edge
Sons of Legion create memorable songs with a unique mix of soul, folk, and rock. Emerging from the bustling streets of Nashville, Tennessee, this band has an authentic sound that’s hard to ignore. “Walking on the Edge” is probably their best work so far, with the band adding a gritty, raw edge to their smooth soul sound.
