SOPHIA
SOPHIA is a rising force in the modern indie scene, offering a fresh take on alt-rock from their home base in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Vocalist and lyricist Jeffrey Michael Shroyer fronts the band’s heartfelt storytelling, while the music — written collectively by Shroyer and bandmates Andrew McClamroch, Jett Stephens, Matthew Garmer, and Salem Reid — captures an intimate blend of emotional depth and unapologetic edge. Their self-released catalog, including their breakthrough debut EP Healing and 2025 follow-up Wandering, reflects a band that finds balance between fragile introspection and propulsive catharsis. With early influences ranging from Neil Young to shoegaze and grunge, SOPHIA’s sound is unmistakably their own — cinematic, tightly woven, and resonant.
Since 2022, SOPHIA’s songs like “HVN,” “Memory,” and “Nihilist” have echoed through the underground, steadily drawing in fans with soaring vocals, textured production, and undeniable live energy. Their growth has been organic, fueled by word-of-mouth acclaim, authentic connection, and regular touring that has taken them well beyond their North Carolina roots. As SOPHIA continues to evolve, the band stands ready for a breakout moment — and they’re doing it on their own terms.
