All About KennyHoopla
KennyHoopla has a unique sound that merges emo-punk vibes with indie, new wave, and hip-hop. This talented genre-bender has been busy over recent years, releasing standalone hits, touring with pop-punk legends, and working with his good friend Travis Barker. Whether you love his songs or not, Kenny is one of the most relevant artists on the scene today. His tunes are full of energy, his angst is contagious, and he hangs out in fertile multidimensional space where genre comes to die.
Inspiration and initiation
Growing up, Kenny was surrounded by music from every direction. Rather than limit his options, he embraced everything from mid-2000s indie-rock to emo punk and even Aphex Twin. He was also inspired by rappers like Kid Cudi and Yung Lean. But instead of copying them, he maintained his personal vision and kept it real with each new release.
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, & then transplanted to Wisconsin, this talented American kicked off his music career in 2016. Uploading music on SoundCloud like so many artists at the time, he found his audience quickly. The “Beneath the Willow Tree” EP was released towards the end of 2016, the song “Cave” came a few weeks later, and his commercial debut “Waves” was released in 2017. He also released “Sickness” in 2018, and “Lost Cause” and “Sore Loser” in 2019.
An Emerging Superstar
In 2020, Kenny transformed from a SoundCloud wannabe to a bona fide global superstar. The song “How Will I Rest in Peace if I’m Buried by a Highway?” reached 1 million views on YouTube, and the EP “How Will I Rest in Peace if I’m Buried by a Highway?” received critical acclaim for its creative genre-defying sound world. With indie and hip hop mixed with pop punk and drum and bass, Kenny’s sound was truly unique.
Kenny’s latest solo track “You Needed a Hit” was met with wide acclaim in early 2023. Since then, he’s been working with some of the biggest names in the music world. His recent collab with Bloc Party is about to hit the airways, and his work with Travis Barker continues to forge new pathways in pop punk.
Partners in Punk — Blink and You’ll Miss It
Kenny started working with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker in late 2020, releasing the song “Estella” featuring Barker on drums. A music video for this song was also released, and the track “Hollywood Sucks” came out in 2021 also featuring Barker. The same year, Travis Barker produced Kenny’s “Survivor’s Guilt: The Mixtape”.
These two friends have just released “Blink and You’ll Miss It”. This EP features three songs by KennyHoopla and Travis Barker, the infectious “Sabotage”, the raging “Marry Kill Fuck”, and the invigorating finale “Tshirt”. KennyHoopla has exciting plans to support this recording for the rest of 2023. First, he’ll open for Blink-182 in the US, and then he’ll hit the road with Limp Bizkit in the UK before doing headline shows of his own.
