About Me – True Optimist
True Optimist is the studio project of multi-instrumentalist Evan Plante, often accompanied by his wife, Susan (from the band Faye). Parlor Palms is the new album, and also the name of backing band for live shows. The musicians in Parlor Palms range from 2-8 members and are handpicked from Charlotte’s best of the best bands such as Bravo Pueblo, Ancient Cities, Ghost Trees. The 8-piece band debuted at the Hopscotch Music Festival this summer. True Optimist’s live shows are shape-shifting ordeals with soaring group vocals, full rhythm sections, intoxicating horn sections, or simple acoustic Spanish guitars. True Optimist and Parlor Palms create indie music inspired by bossa nova, jazz, Latin, Italiodisco, dance pop, the sound of 1981-1983.
