But who is behind all this? Who is responsible for bringing Straight Ministry Heat to the masses, and all the good stuff that comes with it?
Introducing Garrick L. Slade, otherwise known as DJ I Rock Jesus. Garrick is the host and founder of Straight Ministry Heat, and something of a veteran in this game. Born in 1964, he was only 18 when he started honing his DJ skills and spinning vinyl as Total Destruction and then as Rock Master Gary. But it was in 1999 that the real seismic shift of Garrick’s life took place, something that would change his entire life forever – this was the year that Garrick, aged 35, accepted Jesus Christ into his heart. In other words, the year in which everything began to become clear, in which Garrick’s mission began to coalesce and take shape.
HOW DID THE DJ TURN THE PAGE
As Garrick L. Slade was born for a second time, DJ I Rock Jesus was born for the first. Under his new name, Garrick quickly got to work, making his debut at a Praise Party put together by Holy War Productions in the March of the new millennium. Co-founding EPrayzecypha in 2001 – the first 24-hour live gospel hip-hop online radio station – DJ I Rock Jesus understood his true calling, eventually creating the Straight Ministry Heat show, which reverberates with thousands of listeners around the world to this day.
