Adina Rey: Rising Indie Singer/Songwriter

About Me – Adina Rey

Adina Rey has been a singer since she was four years of age as well as a songwriter since eleven years of age. There has been a myriad of obstacles that have kept Adina from living out her dreams of a musical life. She has been physically ill throughout her entire life. Several years ago, she was given a debilitating medication that took her ability to speak for over a year, one which almost ended her life. In overcoming this, Adina pushed herself to learn to speak and sing again from the ground up. This EP is a portrait of her struggles, life experiences, and the ability to overcome great odds… to find forgiveness in the hardest of ways. Adina met singer/songwriter and producer Drake Margolnick. He saw in her a quality and character that he could help develop into a thriving artist. This self-titled EP is a first step in that direction. They labored over these songs with strong conviction and purpose and belief that this music will enrich its listeners’ lives.

Adina Rey 2

When Greazy Keyz sat down with rising artist Adina Rey and producer-songwriter Drake Margolnick on Local Music Somewhere, the conversation turned into more than just a music feature—it became a raw look at resilience, healing, and rediscovering life through art.

Adina Rey’s Story: From Four Walls to Finding Her Voice

Adina Rey grew up sheltered and isolated, with music as her secret refuge. After facing serious health struggles that left her physically limited and emotionally stuck, she’s now breaking free and sharing her voice with the world.

“I’ve had four walls that have contained me for my life, and it’s kind of felt like a prison… I need something new, I need something different, I need something real, I need a life.” – Adina Rey

Her debut single, “Like a Drug”, captures that intensity—yearning, vulnerability, and a fire that refuses to be silenced.

The Power of Partnership: Adina Rey & Drake Margolnick

While Adina brings the raw emotion, Drake Margolnick—known for his work with Flagship—is helping her shape it into powerful, polished songs. The duo clicked almost instantly, balancing Drake’s production expertise with Adina’s authentic storytelling.

Together, they’re crafting music that doesn’t just sound good but feels lived-in. As Drake shared, the goal isn’t just content—it’s art.

A Yearning for More Than Music

Much of the conversation circled back to Adina’s desire for adventure—a deep longing to experience the world after years of sacrifice and limitation.

“I wanna see things, I wanna do things. I wanna know what I’ve missed for 30 years.” – Adina Rey

This yearning bleeds into her lyrics, where themes of escape, growth, and discovery repeat like echoes of a life ready to begin again.

Why Adina Rey’s Journey Resonates

Greazy Keyz reflected on her story with empathy, noting parallels in his own experience as a young parent who leaned on music for survival. That honesty created space for listeners to connect with Adina’s vulnerability—not just as an artist, but as a woman starting fresh.

Her music is more than songs; it’s a declaration that it’s never too late to begin again.
