Te’Jani is a staple of the Charlotte music scene. With guitar being his first love, he describes his music as being for “black kids who loved Guitar Hero 3,” a lived truth for him as the game inspired him to buy his own electric guitar at 11 years old. Indeed, his recorded repertoire reflects the intersection of rock, pop, and R&B. Te’Jani combines a singer-songwriter sensibility with subtly spacious production of a seasoned engineer. His music pulls listeners along his journey with depression, love, and personal growth.

Leveraging his multi-hyphenate creative skillset, Te’Jani has established himself in Charlotte in the recording booth. He has served as engineer, musician, and producer on records from Charlotte R&B and hip-hop stalwarts like Mavi, Nia J, Cyanca, Erick Lottary, and Elevator Jay. His influence, though, pushes beyond the boundaries of the Queen City, as he has served as engineer and producer on projects from Dollar Signs (NC), August08 (LA), Boyband (FL), and Sam Salter (London).

Moving from behind the scenes to the stage, Te’Jani is now evolving into a solo artist. His solo debut GIMP (2022) combines pop-punk sensibilities with provocative lyricism, inflecting well-established pop tropes of love and loneliness with poignant lyrical precision. His most recent release ON PROZAC (2023) showcases the raw power of this lyricism. The five-track EP gently spirals into melancholic reflection as Te’Jani sings of a breakup, accompanied only by his guitar and echoing layers of his own voice. This newest release, accompanied with a sold-out release show at Charlotte’s Evening Muse, builds anticipation for where his creativity will lead him next.
