Who Is Michael Moshonov?
Michael Moshonov, also known professionally as Mike Mushon, is an Israeli rapper, musician, actor, and TV host. He was born in 1986 and studied theater at Yoram Levinstein’s course. He’s been in several stage productions, films, and TV series through the years, including Lost Islands and The Human Resource Manager, for both of which he won the Ophir Award for Best Actor.
Michael is also a member of the hip-hop group Cohen@Mushon (כהן@מושון), along with rapper andproducer Michael Cohen. The two rappers have known each other since high school and started to perform together in the early 2000s, using their last names for distinction since they share the same first name.
Their style has been influenced by the global hip-hop movement instead of the protest movement followed by other Israeli rap artists. In 2008, they released their debut album, titled Kosher Gufani (כושר גופני), which Cohen and Ori Shochat produced. For this album, they were nominated for Best Israeli Act on the MTV Europe Music Awards.
In 2011, the duo released Machshev Lekol Yeled (מחשב לכל ילד), their second record. The year 2016 brought along their third album, Yamim Arukim (ימים ארוכים). The duo, in collaboration with Ori Shochat, also produced this album. In addition, the Alchemist also guest-produced Ein Shum Be’aya (אין שום בעיה). This unique album had guest appearances from various artists, including Dana Frider, Peter Roth, Peled, Ido Mosseri, Michael Swissa, and Ravid Plotnik.
Recently Released Music Review: Textile (טקסטיל)
Michael Moshonov recently released a new song in collaboration with Omer Joe Nave. The song, titled Textile
(טקסטיל), from קריסטלים (Crystals) is a beautiful blend of vocals and instrumentals. With a bit of hip-hop and a bit of rap, the song brings
together a unique perspective for listeners. The upbeat, funky rhythm keeps the song moving, and the drum beat has the audience moving to the beat as the song progresses.
The song is just starting to gain traction on YouTube and Amazon Music and is terrific for those looking to expand their musical repertoire. The pair of musicians blend well together, and hopefully, this will not be their last
collaboration.
Michael Moshonov has had a fantastic career so far in both music and film, and he is definitely someone to keep tabs on in the future. I expect this is not the last we’ll hear from this talented gentleman.
