Faith, Film & Finding Purpose with Tanya Huston
About Me – Tanya Huston of Nile Productions
Tanya Huston is definitely someone to keep an eye on as an emerging 21st century filmmaker. Her former experience as lead producer of step, comedy and talent shows, coupled with many years of professional experience working on Wall Street as an analyst, financial advisor, and trader’s assistant, etc., and then later the training she received as an actor, have all helped in developing her eye for details, sharpen her storytelling skills, and hone her ability to capture the essence of the moment.
Tanya’s career in filmmaking started incidentally as she felt led to tell the story of a close friend of hers who had recently been released from prison after being incarcerated for nearly twenty-three (23) years. Little did she know that that prompting in 2015 would have now led her to independently producing currently over twenty (20) short film projects. Such film projects include her award-winning films Ex-Offenders, The Deadbeat, Gramp’s Moving On, Reckoning, and Brothers.
Tanya’s latest film project, The Beginning of the End, premiered at the 2025 Charlotte Black Film Festival in June, in which she was selected to receive a micro film grant from them to assist with the project’s funding. This was her first such funding grant received. The short film contains two (2) original songs, was shot in one (1) day, and was produced in Charlotte, NC. Her desire is to use this film as a Proof-of-Concept to receive the funding needed to produce it into a television or web-series. The film’s logline is:
Haunted by the untimely and mysterious death of their teenage son, a financial advisor is emotionally moved to uncover the truth amidst personal challenges and conflicting societal changes.
Tanya continues to write and direct short films and has started working on her first feature film based off of her most popular short to date Gramps’ Moving On, which has screened at over thirty (30) film festivals and events. It is her desire that her heart, wit, and grit that are infused within her storytelling, would continue to resonate with viewers both domestically and internationally.
