About Me – Lacy Dooms

Lacy Dooms is a Charlotte-based pop-punk/alt band fronted by Daniella Sniffen with Joey Lins, John Maddrey, Pablo Esa, and Austin Mullins. Their music channels the fragile, messy parts of being human into songs that are loud, honest, and music that feels familiar and true.

The Rise of Lacy Dooms in the Charlotte Scene

This week on Local Music Somewhere, host Annaliese Pearl sat down with Dani, Joey, and John from the Charlotte-based band Lacy Dooms, who are redefining what pop rock sounds like in 2025. The band may be new to the Queen City, but they’re already turning heads — and even snagging a Queen City Awards nomination for Rock Group of the Year.

Formed just over a year ago, Lacy Dooms came together when Dani and Joey moved to Charlotte and linked up with John at an open mic. With Pablo and Austin rounding out the lineup, the group hit the ground running, fueled by creativity, community, and chemistry.

“It’s honestly an honor because we’ve been trying to put ourselves out there in the community in Charlotte… the welcoming vibes have been huge.” – Dani, Lacy Dooms

From “Goodbye” to “Save Your Tears” – Crafting the Lacy Dooms Sound

Before Lacy Dooms, Dani was creating electronic pop under her solo project Elsea. When she teamed up with Joey, those songs evolved into the emotional, raw energy that defines the band today. Their tracks “Goodbye” and “Save Your Tears” became the foundation for their debut EP — full of moody reflection and cathartic release.

Empowerment Through Emotion

“Save Your Tears” came from a deeply personal place, inspired by a difficult breakup and the journey toward reclaiming power and confidence. What started as a moment of heartbreak became a song for anyone ready to stand up and take their space back.

The band’s connection to New York-based producer John Naclerio (known for his work with My Chemical Romance, Senses Fail, and Coheed and Cambria) brought a polished yet raw edge to their debut EP, making it a true indie-rock standout.

Behind the Songs – Writing, Collaboration & Catharsis

Songwriting for Lacy Dooms is a mix of spontaneity and collaboration. Dani often starts with lyrics inspired by real emotions or past experiences, and Joey helps develop the musical structure. Together, they create songs that feel both intimate and universal.

Their song “Lost Cause” dives deep into toxic relationships and self-realization — a cycle of heartbreak many listeners will recognize. “All I see is you and me wrapped in a cycle of catastrophe,” Dani sings, a line that perfectly captures that mix of love, chaos, and clarity that defines much of their work.

Recording on a Budget, Creating Without Limits

Recording their EP was a “mental and emotional experience,” Dani admitted, as the band balanced full-time jobs, life changes, and creativity. Most of the EP was recorded from home, with live drum tracks added remotely by their friend Justin Meyer.

For Joey, years of experience in other bands taught him to embrace imperfection and stay productive. “You just have to keep going,” he said — a mantra that shaped the band’s entire approach to music.

Performing Live and Finding Their Groove

The band’s favorite moments so far? Playing The Rooster in Gastonia and Ground Zero in Spartanburg — venues that gave them space to connect, move, and feed off the crowd’s energy.

Dani especially loves how their new members have elevated their sound: “They’ve caught on quickly… and really bring their ideas, which is very important to me.”

What’s Next for Lacy Dooms?

Lacy Dooms are planning a weekend tour back in Virginia this November, with more shows lined up for 2026. They’re also already crafting their next EP, which Dani says will focus on “life experiences” with upbeat sounds layered over reflective lyrics. One track in the works — intriguingly titled “Rabbit’s Got a Gun” — promises a bold, societal edge.

“The last EP was about loss and hope… this one’s going to explore life from a bigger perspective.” – Dani, Lacy Dooms

Social Media, Strategy, and Staying Real

Lacy Dooms also shared how they’re managing their online presence. Dani runs the band’s Instagram, focusing on intentional content — not the “post three times a day” hustle. They plan content around Wednesdays and Fridays, balancing creativity with consistency.

They also aim to connect with fans through live performance reels, behind-the-scenes footage, and storytelling, helping audiences see the people behind the sound.
