Who is Chris Webby?
This American rapper is known for his iconic mixtapes and energetic flow, which often draws similarities to Eminem. He came up in the scene over a decade ago, with his EP There Goes the Neighborhood released in 2011 and the Bars On Me mixtape released in 2012. Over the years, Webby has worked with some of the biggest names in hip-hop and dance music, including Mac Miller, Method Man, Tech N9ne, Jarren Benton, and Kid Ink. Many of these artists featured on his mixtapes, and others worked with Webby on standalone singles and EP cuts.
Chris Webby released his debut studio album, Chemically Imbalanced, in 2014. It reached No. 25 on the US Billboard charts, which made the rapper a big name in hip-hop circles. In total, Webby has released 18 mixtapes and two EPs since 2009. His most recent work is 88 Milligrams, a collaboration alongside Scott Storch, with co-producing credits by Jalen Storch. Who is Scott Storch?

Scott Storch is one of these names — a talented keyboardist, songwriter, and producer who works with the biggest stars in global music. He started his career playing keys for The Roots, before transitioning to the desk to craft songs for Beyoncé, 50 Cent, and Dr. Dre himself.
After achieving massive success at a young age, Storch faced some tough battles with drugs and fame. He had a few years away from the spotlight, returning in recent years to work with DJ Khaled, The Game, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, and Chris Webby. 88 Milligrams
88 Milligrams is a new studio album by Chris Webby and Scott Storch, released on Webby’s own label EightyHD Music. The legendary Connecticut MC takes care of the rhymes, with Storch bringing the heat on keyboards and production duties. Scott’s son Jalen is listed as a co-producer on the record, using this project to learn more about the editing and recording process. JP On Da Track is also listed as an additional producer, and Nox Beatz has credits as the mixing and mastering engineer.
This release has seven tracks in total, so it’s either a short album or a long EP. It’s a solid offering from beginning to end, with Storch’s nostalgic beats and melodies providing the perfect launchpad for the MC’s lyrics. Chris Webby has a party-time flow with Eminem influences, which the artist himself references from time to time. This is most obvious in the introspective cut “Rollercoaster,” but you also hear it coming through in other songs. The track mentioned is somewhat similar to “Stan,” delivered in letter format just like the classic Eminem hit.
While 88 Milligrams has a great feel-good flow, Scott Storch’s production is what really makes this album kick. The legendary producer doesn’t waste time performing tricks, instead leaning into proven beats and song structures. He also makes lots of strong creative choices, consistently picking the perfect melody or sample for the task at hand. For example, an authentic Indian sample works well on the song “Pyro,” and the selected guitar sound is perfect for “Running Scared.”
88 Milligrams starts with the “ASMR” intro, before diving into “Perfect Storm,” “In My Baggie,” and “Put ‘Em High.” The entire album is full of drug references, with cocaine samples kicking off the record and Webby talking about pills in almost every track. The album continues with “Running Scared,” “Pyro,” and “Rollercoaster,” where Webby compares life to a joy ride of ups, downs, and surprises. All in all, Webby and Storch work well together, creating an edgy yet accessible record full of trusted beats, novel sounds, and memorable pop hooks.
The Making of 88 Milligrams

We get to witness Chris Webby and Scott Storch at work, and a few scenes even show Jalen working in the background. This project was a great environment for the young producer, who’s often seen sitting behind his laptop listening intently.

Perfect Storm
After the gentle “ASMR” introduction, this track is the real opener on 88 Milligrams. Scott Storch lays down his signature string melodies and old-school beats, while Chris Webby delivers energetic rap prose. This is another track heavily inspired by Eminem, with Webby obviously influenced by the Detroit rapper’s unique flow and novelty lyrics.
In My Baggie
According to Chris Webby, this was the first song cooked up for the 88 Milligrams release. It ups the energy levels even further, as Webby takes a fun excursion into party times and recreational chemistry. The lyrics of this track reference multiple drugs, with Webby delivering good-time vibes above a great beat by Scott Storch.
Pyro
This track has an emotional melody, delivered with Eastern-style samples. Chris Webby raps about “burning the place down,” while Scott Storch weaves old-school beats with the melody hook. The production is tight on this number, and it fits perfectly between the boomin’ bass of “Running Scared” and the fun vibes of “Rollercoaster.”
Rollercoaster
“Rollercoaster” is a strong track, and it’s the perfect way to finish the album. In a record full of drug and party references, this song sees Webby and Storch getting real. The lyrics take a reflective look at life and addiction, drawing a line in the sand between life then and now. While the lyrics are still accessible and funny, this track hits a bit deeper than the album’s earlier cuts.
