Trio Nightclub in Charlotte: Past Stories and Future Events
The music scene in Charlotte has really flourished over recent years. Live music is kicking, new venues are opening, and dance floors are pumping like never before. One recent addition to the scene is the multi-million dollar venue, Trio. Since opening in the South End back in 2023, this exciting space has attracted some of the biggest names in modern dance music. With futuristic design, top-quality sound, and a fantastic team working behind the scenes, the Trio flame is sure to burn bright for many years to come.
The Beginnings
Long before Trio shook up Charlotte’s nightlife, the original club was drawing huge crowds in Charleston. Owner Eric Gussin acquired Trio Charleston in 2019, having identified a gap in the city’s nightlife sector. It wasn’t long before this venue became a legend, winning awards and attracting crowds from all corners of South Carolina. After massive success in the “Holy City,” Gussin set his sights on an ambitious expansion. Working with marketing manager Cameron Sepulveda, Gussin and his team brought the heat to a brand-new location.
Trio Charlotte opened its doors in 2023, with Gussin once again recognizing a gap in the market. While there was a thriving dance music community in the city and surrounding area, online activity wasn’t being reflected in the streets. People had nowhere to dance, and Gussin was hell-bent on finding a solution. Trio eventually opened on a South End strip, which was slowly gaining traction as a nightlife destination. It launched right next to The Horseshoe and just down the road from 1501 South Mint, which made the venue almost impossible to ignore.
The Venue
Nightclubs are notoriously difficult to get started, especially when you go this big. Eric Gussin wasn’t starting from scratch, however, having already developed the sumptuous Trio Charleston venue. He already had a great team working by his side, and he used the Charleston blueprint to great effect. The original Trio used the same sound system as Miami’s famed E11EVEN super club, and that pedigree was now being shared with the people of Queen City.
The new venture was ambitious from the outset, with Gussin investing millions to create a state-of-the-art venue and cutting-edge sound system. More than another nightclub, he wanted to create the new premier destination for nightlife in Charlotte. Gussin was confident in his vision from the start, saying, “Even if our patrons don’t know they have a want for us, once they experience it, they’ll want to come back.”
Above all else, however, Gussin is most proud of the “unbelievable” team behind Trio: “We conducted over 200 interviews, and it was very hard to pick, however everyone on our team is there for a reason… I am also pretty proud of the actual build and design of the venue. It is exactly how I would envision a perfect club in my eyes. The sound is as good as it can be. From the words of our sound engineer, who has installed some of the biggest and best in the world, ‘this is the best sounding room I have ever built or installed.'”
At the end of the day, great nightclubs are about music and people. Whether you’re having a weekend bender with friends or celebrating a special occasion with someone you love, Trio is designed to bring people together through the power of dance. This amazing venue has something for everyone to enjoy, from sweaty dance floors to elevated balconies and a unique patio area. Table reservations are available for the ultimate VIP experience.
